Volvo drivers love the remote control features of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle, start the motor, and even locate it using an app for smartphones.

Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin in between the cover of the fob and the fob, then slowly pull it up.

To press the manual lock/unlock button hold your key fob with the Volvo logo side up. Locate  G28CarKeys  that is on the outside of the key fob body and gently press it to open a cover which conceals the manual key blade. You'll need a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip this cover counterclockwise so that the arrow is aligned with "open."

Starting the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs offer an ease of use and convenience that is unmatched by manual keys. A key fob, as any other battery-operated device will eventually lose its charge over time. If you notice that your key fob has become less responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace the battery.

You can enable this feature by using the key fob if your car comes with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The vehicle will heat or cool to the same temperature it was set to when it was parked. It can it can run for up to 15 minutes.

With a fingernail, remove the cover from the back of the key fob. Under the cover and on a diagonal at the body's edge there is an unidentified button. Slide it down and then to the right. The cover will come out and slide off leaving the manual key blade! If you are unable to locate the button, look around the newly revealed manual key access to find an undiscovered lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

Volvo key fobs come with a hidden feature that allows you to instantly open all windows. This is great when you're trying to squeeze into a cramped parking spot, or even just to get fresh air in the cabin while driving.

Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and the sunroof, if your car has one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can shut all windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.

You can also activate the panic alarm inside your car by using the key fob. This will emit an intense, enthralling roar which can deter thieves and help you get home safely after a long night out. This feature can be very useful for those who live in a secluded area or wish to safeguard your family while they're away.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo has packed its key fob with variety of useful features. They are great if you're slammed with groceries or helping kids to pack their sports gear after a workout.

If you have the Hands Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) then you can open it using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it by pressing the same button.

When you're ready to start your vehicle then use the key fob to push the START button (and don't worry about your battery going out or your car not starting since it has a backup key mechanical slot too). This is one of the many tips that will benefit your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Lay out your keys as well as batteries and additional keys on a clean surface. Set the key fob with the Volvo logo facing up Then, locate a small black button on the bottom left of the fob. Slide it to the right. The cover should fall off and fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade underneath.

The button to unlock the key fob twice quickly, and you should be able to unlock all of the doors and the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for 2 seconds, you can also close the windows and shut the sunroof when they're fitted. Connect the battery, and the alarm should cease.
